Dear Friends,
What an incredible night…silent, holy, filled with light and life and to be spending it with you means everything. The Christ candle shines bright tonight and fills our hearts with the promise given so long ago…Emmanuel has come and God is with us. It is as true for us right now as it was on that holy night. It is the birth we celebrate, the baby born among us and for us, the beginning of something new coming into our world…changing our lives and offering hope and love.
Our worship together tonight is also the beginning of something new coming into our community with the hope of offering God’s love to all people in real and authentic ways.
I believe with all of my heart that God loves all of us so deeply and wants more than anything for us to reach out in love and care to one another. I believe that is happening already in the Kirkwood community and beyond and I am grateful to be a part of it.
I invite you to dream with me about a new congregation gathered here in Kirkwood. A community that worships together and serves together, a community that genuinely cares about others, a community that seeks to be authentic and is welcoming of all people, a community that is filled with the love of God and shines with the light of Christ.
I also invite you to join me for a time of worship and conversation on January 21, 2007 at 5:00 pm at Gathering Grounds to talk more about what, who, how and why this all may come to pass.
Thank you so very much for being here tonight. May God bless you in this Christmas time and in the year ahead and may you feel deeply the kindness and care of God’s love in your life.
Peace and love to you,
Susannah
